In Short

Friday: Caught up with C. (back from Mexico City, yeah! And off to Madrid, boo!) and two M.'s at Dora's where copious libations were imbibed until a modest hour. Then finished BSG Season 2!!!

Saturday: Went to the Roy Thomson Hall for the first time to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra perform a number of classical compositions with "wind" themes, including Beethoven, Dvorak (just imagine the accents are there), Donizetti, and Britten. Donizetti's solo for the English horn was performed by Cary Elbi, and it was beautifully controlled. Britten's composition, "A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" was simply, spectacular. With every single instrument on stage, including triangles, gongs, and a full orchestra (10 flautists, 10 horns, 20 + violins, 8 cellos, 4 bass cellos) -- but no piano, the TSO gave a stellar performance. I'll just forget the part where we were walking from St. Andrews on the Path to the Hall, and I tripped on my own feet (damn heel got caught in my trouser cuff), and landed ass over tip in front of a very dignified middle-aged gentleman carrying his cello backstage.

Sunday: Went to yoga after two weeks, and now my muscles are "paining." Dim Sum lunch with Special K. and Italian dinner with K. Oh, so good.

Monday: Work and Shakespeare and Agatha Christie and Napoleon Dynamite and
job applications.

Tuesday: Ceiling fixed! Woo!

Nikki, it's the best feeling. Ever! Esp. when you suddenly discover that everything's getting sucked back in again just from breathing and standing on one leg.

Not sure if you know of it, but in case you don't the TSO has a program for students/young people to enjoy the symphony for a HUGE discount. www.tsoundcheck.com
